GRAF, a European leader in rainwater management, introduces the Carat AA Eco-Plus Rainwater Harvesting System — a practical, sustainable solution designed to support a wide range of non-potable household applications. Ideal for toilet flushing, washing machines, garden watering, and outdoor cleaning, this system provides an efficient way to reduce mains water consumption while maintaining reliable performance throughout the home.

How It Operates:

Reliable Rainwater Collection – Rainwater is captured from the roof and directed into the underground tank via standard downpipes, allowing for effective utilisation of every shower.

High-Quality Filtration – As water enters the tank, it flows across GRAF’s award-winning filter, which removes leaves, debris, and larger particles before the water reaches the storage area.

On-Demand Water Supply – The system features an external pump and control unit that draws rainwater from the tank when required. A floating extraction point ensures water is taken from the cleanest layer just below the surface.

Automatic Mains Backup – During dry spells, the system switches seamlessly to mains water via an integrated cistern beneath the pump unit. This maintains household supply without needing to top up the main tank.

Maximum Rainwater Storage – Because mains water is not introduced into the underground tank, its full volume remains dedicated to collected rainwater, improving overall efficiency.

Key Features:

  • Sustainable Tank Construction – The Carat tank is produced from 100% recycled plastic, supporting long-term environmental responsibility.

  • External Pump with Type AA Air Gap – The specially developed pump unit includes a Family Type AA air gap, ensuring compliance with UK water regulations and offering additional peace of mind.

  • Simplified Installation – The tank can be installed with a gravel backfill instead of concrete, reducing installation time and cost.

  • Free UK Mainland Delivery – Included as standard to offer added value.

Each system is supplied with the Carat telescopic dome shaft Mini Green and PE lid, suitable for pedestrian areas, with an optional upgrade to a vehicle-loading lid for driveways or parking spaces.

It's essential to inform your local water authority before starting any work. According to the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, installing systems like rainwater harvesting is considered a "material change of use" of your premises. This means you must notify your water undertaker in advance and obtain their consent before beginning the installation.

To notify your local water authority, you'll need to provide details such as your name and address, a description of the proposed work, and specifics about the location and intended use of the premises. Many water undertakers have their own notification forms available on their websites. It's important to use these forms, especially when submitting electronically.

By following these steps, you help ensure that your rainwater harvesting system is installed safely and in compliance with regulations, protecting both your water supply and the broader public system. For any further guidance, please click here.
