This past weekend, our very own David Stagg added yet another achievement to his growing list of dancing accomplishments, having successfully passed his gold medal exam in Ballroom and Latin. It’s the latest milestone in what’s been a remarkable journey of dedication, development, and performance, both on and off the dancefloor.
Many of you will know David as one of our longest-serving team members, having joined GRAF UK back in 2011. Over the years, he’s become a linchpin of the business, known not only for his technical expertise and reliability but also for the calm professionalism and positivity he brings to the team every day.
What some may not know is just how seriously David takes the challenge of improving himself, not just in work, but in his personal pursuits too. Earlier this year, David competed in Strictly Banbury as a professional dancer, just one year after taking part as an amateur for the first time in 2024. His rapid progression is no accident. It’s the result of a mindset focused on continuous improvement – something we can all learn from.
After a recent conversation about what it takes to improve performance, I asked David if he’d be willing to share his thoughts with the wider team. True to form, he delivered a concise and powerful reflection, which we’re proud to share in full:
David Stagg – Thoughts on Improving Performance…
Review:
How effective are you actually being with your time?
Analyse your performance. Record/Video/Take notes.
Don’t just compare/measure yourself to those around you – watch and listen to the professionals.
If you are granted the opportunity, ask a professional or experienced individual to review your performance. Ask the difficult questions and take onboard negative feedback as constructive comments to help you reach the next level.
Be prepared to try new things you’re not comfortable with.
Personality and Raising the Bar:
Add your own flair and uniqueness to set you apart.
Action:
Don’t leave something for tomorrow if you can action it today.
Time always escapes us. Leaving something for another time may become a missed opportunity.
David’s words reflect the way he works, learns, and performs. There’s no sense of complacency, just a quiet determination to keep improving and contribute more. It’s no wonder he’s held in such high regard by colleagues across the business.
We’re proud to have him on the team and delighted to celebrate not just his recent dancing success but the mindset that got him there. Whether in the office, on site, or under the spotlight on stage, David sets a standard worth aspiring to.
Congratulations again, David.
