This June, 17 of our team are taking part in a month-long virtual fundraising challenge in support of our local hospice. We are proud to be headline sponsors, and we are backing the whole team to take part.
A Cause Close to Home
Katharine House Hospice is based in Adderbury, just down the road from our Banbury office. The hospice provides free, specialist palliative care to people living with life-limiting illness across North Oxfordshire, South Northamptonshire and South Warwickshire. It costs £16,261 per day to run, and the hospice needs to raise over £7 million every year to keep its doors open and its services free.
Those services go well beyond clinical care. Katharine House offers bereavement support, art therapies, relaxation classes and a range of additional services that make it a genuinely special place for patients and families. None of it happens without the support of the local community.
Many of our team have a personal connection to the hospice. That is what makes this partnership one that means something to all of us, not just as a business, but as people. Supporting our local community is part of who we are, and Katharine House has been part of that for a long time.
About the Pace Around the World Challenge
Pace Around the World is Katharine House Hospice’s virtual fundraising challenge, running throughout the month of June. The goal is a collective one: hundreds of participants across the community work together to cover more than 40,000 miles, the equivalent of travelling around the globe, by logging their movement every day.
Every type of activity counts. Walking, running, cycling, swimming, wheelchair use, yoga, gardening. Participants log whatever movement works for them and contribute to the shared total. Each person taking part is asked to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship, and every penny raised goes directly to Katharine House Hospice.
How GRAF UK is Getting Involved
We are not just putting our name on this. As headline sponsor, we are covering the registration fee for every member of the team who signs up, and we are organising weekly activities throughout June to keep everyone moving. From lunchtime walks to run clubs, we are finding every reason to get outside and add to the total together.
Seventeen of our colleagues have signed up to take part. It has been a genuinely brilliant way to bring the team together for something that matters beyond the office.
Please Support the Team
If you can spare anything at all, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation, however small, goes directly to sustaining the care that Katharine House provides to patients and families across our region.
