Quite a lot, as it turns out. GRAF UK is the official Water Partner for Jodie Amos Eventing for the 2026/27 season.

On the face of it, eventing and water management might not seem like an obvious partnership.

But when you look at how much water it takes to run a professional eventing yard every day, it starts to make a lot more sense.

Here’s the story behind it.

Why Jodie?

Jodie competes at a high level and runs a busy professional yard where horses need looking after 365 days a year.

And that makes it a really interesting environment for us.

Because rather than simply putting our name alongside Jodie’s, we have an opportunity to look at how water is actually being used across the yard and where we might be able to do things differently.

It’s a partnership where our products and our expertise can genuinely play a part in the day-to-day operation.

How much water does a professional eventing yard actually use?

Probably more than most of us would initially imagine.

Horses need washing down. Arenas need maintaining. There are buckets to fill, equipment to clean and all the other jobs involved in keeping a professional yard running.

And much of that water traditionally comes straight from the mains.

Which raises an interesting question.

Do we really need to use drinking-quality mains water for all of it?

That’s something we’re going to explore with Jodie.

As part of our partnership, we’ll be installing a rainwater harvesting system at the yard, capturing rainwater from the roof areas, storing it and making it available for reuse.

Once it’s operational, we’ll be able to see what difference that makes to the yard’s reliance on mains water and share what we learn along the way.

And it’s not just about the water system

We’ll also be supplying Jodie’s yard with our Toni buckets.

They’re designed for professional use and the sort of demanding, everyday conditions you find in agricultural and equestrian environments.

Again, that’s one of the things we like about this partnership.

These products aren’t going to be there for show. They’re going to become part of the everyday running of a busy yard.

And we’re looking forward to seeing how they perform.

Why are we telling this story?

Because this is where we think the partnership becomes particularly relevant.

We talk a lot about the need to use water more carefully.

But that conversation can very quickly become about what people should use less of.

There’s another side to it.

What if we became better at matching the water we’re using to the job we’re using it for?

Rainwater doesn’t need to become drinking water before it can wash down a yard, clean equipment or carry out many of the everyday jobs where we’re currently using mains water.

A professional eventing yard gives us an opportunity to put that thinking into practice in a real working environment.

We’re at the beginning of the project, so we’ll be following the installation and sharing what happens once the system is up and running.

And hopefully we’ll be able to answer another question along the way:

Just how much mains water can a professional eventing yard replace with rainwater?
