Can you drink boiled rainwater?

Boiling rainwater, water in general, is going to remove some pathogens from the water, potentially majority of them, but that is all it’s going to do. There are other things in rainwater, in particular, that boiling water will not remove. Some things are quite scary, like pesticides, so little bugs. So if you were to have a rainwater collection tank and you feed this water into your property, there may be a chance for little bugs to get within that water. And of course, putting that into a kettle, that’s not going to make them disappear. And of course there’s also mineral content and other potential living things within that water. And of course, again, boiling a kettle, we’re not removing those particular compounds, elements from the water. So they’re always going to be retained within the water. And of course they’re going to be consumed by you and those could be quite harmful to you. So general advice on this would probably be, no. It will have a beneficiary effect, but it’s not going to save you entirely. To really get water to a drinking water standard, certainly rainwater, it needs to be, yeah, filtered and purified properly, which of course is quite a technical process and you have to have quite substantial equipment to do it. So boiling water alone is not adequate.
