A light liquid separator system exploits the physical principle of gravity. Heavier substances in the water, such as sand, settle in the optional sludge trap and/or the sludge trap integrated in the separator. Lighter substances such as petrol and mineral oils rise to the surface of the water. An optional coalescence unit improves the separation performance of a light liquid separator.
