Rainwater Harvesting is the collection of rainwater that falls onto the roof of a building, be it a domestic household or commercial property, where it is then channelled through the guttering and downpipes and into a storage tank to be held for re-use. Rainwater can be harvested for use outside, for washing cars, watering plants and gardens, as well as inside properties for toilet flushing, washing clothes, or any non-potable water requirements. Typically a domestic household can save 50% of its mains water usage by using a rainwater harvesting system.
