GRAF saves electricity for 90 households

Graf has been developing solutions for the sustainable use of water resources for more than 50 years. Thanks to state-of-the-art production facilities, the plastic products are produced in an energy-efficient way, using high-quality recycled raw materials. Now the company has retrofitted the lighting using LED technology at the Teningen site. By these measures, 62 per cent less electricity is consumed for the lighting. This corresponds to the average electricity consumption of about 90 four-person households.

Jürgen Keßler, plant manager at the Graf site in Teningen, is enthusiastic: “Thanks to the new LED lamps, production is significantly brighter. Furthermore, the LEDs have a lifetime of up to five times longer than the previously used mercury vapour lamps and are thus much more environmentally friendly. “In the production area, a total of 184 LED spotlights, 684 LED tubes in the material preparation and 72 LED panels in the offices and laboratories are used. Thus a total of 395,054 kilowatt hours per year are saved.

The European market leader in rainwater harvesting is committed to sustainable production of the environmental products it provides. Thanks to modern production facilities and an energy management system, Graf consumes 0.38 to 0.5 kilowatt hours per kilogram of plastic. Usually, up to 2.7 kilo-watt hours per kilogram are consumed during the injection moulding of a plastic part. The heat produced during the production process is made use of by means of a heat recovery system to heat the production and logistics buildings.

In addition, a recycling rate of 70 percent improves the environmental footprint of the Graf product range. Thanks to years of intensive research and modern production facilities, an unusually high proportion of recycled raw materials can be processed without sacrificing product quality. “In addition, our products have a very long service life,” emphasises Jürgen Keßler. Therefore, the manufacturer grants up to 25 years warranty on their products.
